HMI PLC Engineer

S toughton, Wisconsin - Full Time

Productive Resources( seeking acandidateto be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Stoughton, Wisconsin. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a skilled HMI PLC Engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in an industrial or manufacturing setting. This role is vital for ensuring the seamless operation of automated systems and improving the efficiency of our trailer production lines. As an HMI PLC Engineer, you will be responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining HMI and PLC systems that control key processes within our manufacturing environment.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with theopportunityof professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.

Duties:

  • Design, program, and configure PLC systems (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) to control manufacturing processes and automated equipment.
  • Develop and maintain Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to provide clear, real-time system status and controls for operators and technicians. Ensure HMIs are user-friendly and meet operational needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC and HMI systems. Perform regular diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Work closely with automation teams to integrate PLCs and HMIs with other systems, such as robotic equipment, conveyors, and other automated machinery.
  • Identify areas for process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements through PLC and HMI upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for PLC programs, HMI designs, wiring diagrams, and system configurations.
  • Work with production teams, engineers, and maintenance personnel to support system functionality and ensure smooth operations on the production floor.
  • Provide technical training and support to operators and maintenance teams on PLC and HMI systems, troubleshooting, and operation.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or a related field required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in PLC programming, HMI development, or automation engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in programming PLCs (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) and developing HMI applications (e.g., Rockwell, Wonderware, or similar platforms).
  • Strong understanding of control systems, electrical schematics, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC).
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems, including robotics, conveyors, and other automated equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot PLC and HMI system issues.
  • Experience with PLC programming software (e.g., RSLogix, TIA Portal) and HMI development tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and document technical procedures.
  • Ability to manage complex systems and ensure accuracy in programming and system setups.
